Noa Sofa – Scan-Based Production Model (Next)
Modeling, Topology, Integration, Production Optimisation

The Noa sofa is a production-ready asset created for Next, built with a strong focus on real-world accuracy and material realism. The model was developed using scan data as a primary reference, allowing me to closely match the proportions, softness, and natural deformation seen in the physical product. This scan-driven approach ensured the final asset retained the subtle irregularities and relaxed form that are often lost in purely manual modelling.

The silhouette and cushion profiles were carefully shaped to capture the soft, lived-in feel of the design, with particular attention paid to the way the seat cushions settle, the gentle compression along the edges, and the relaxed posture of the back cushions. The goal was to achieve a balance between clean, controlled form and natural softness, avoiding an overly rigid or “CG perfect” result.

The model was also built to support multiple size variations, allowing the asset to be reused across different product configurations while maintaining consistent proportions and visual integrity. The topology was structured to scale cleanly between sizes without introducing distortion, ensuring each variant remained production-ready.

Key considerations included:
-Scan-based form matching for increased realism
-Clean, efficient topology suitable for production pipelines
-Accurate cushion volume and compression behaviour
-Support for multiple size variants from a single base asset
-Optimised geometry for high-quality renders without unnecessary density

This project demonstrates my ability to translate real-world furniture into high-quality digital assets, using scan data and careful observation to achieve believable softness, proportion, and material response while meeting the practical requirements of a retail production environment.
